Tourists all day!

Today we were tourists all day in the Big Apple! I had a day off from school today (it's Passover), so first off I got to sleep in!! It's amazing how nice those extra 2 hours of sleep are. We got up at 7 and caught the 8:00 bus to Bowling Green, which is where the ferry leaves to go to Liberty Island. We did have to stand in a couple of lines, but it wasn't bad at all. We walked around Liberty Island and went through the museum and up to the top of the pedestal. They no longer allow visitors all the way up into the statue, but we were happy with the view from 156 steps up! We were hungry and went to eat as soon as the ferry got us back to Manhattan. We ate lunch in Brooklyn Heights at the Waterfront Ale House. It was perfect! After a few cold ones, we got moving again and hit Chinatown! The girls agreed, it looks just like China! We tasted a few treats from an Asian Bakery (taro puff and coconut sweet rice ball with bean paste). Very different, but I'm glad I tried them. We walked up through Little Italy, Nolita, part of SoHo and into the East Village to McSorley's Ale House, the oldest pub in Manhattan. We ordered a round of beers (you can't order just one, so 8 beers came for the 4 of us) and a plate of cheese and crackers - all for $20. What a bargain!

We are home now, and exhausted! I do have class tomorrow - pies on the agenda - and Thursday, and then leave for Charlotte on Friday morning. I got my sweater from Mary in the mail and can't wait to wear it tomorrow!
