On Wednesday night, I volunteered at another special event, this one for the Committee for Hispanic Children and Families. The event was called "A Slice of Latin America," and invited chefs from about 50 latin american restaurants in the area to cook small plates/desserts while guests participated in a silent and live auction (one of the trips went for over $35,000!) to benefit the CHCF. There were also a few dance groups who performed and live music for dancing. Of course, I was not dancing nor bidding, but rather prepping and cooking. I helped a restaurant from the Dominican Republic - we served Alaskan King Crab Lychee Ceviche and Tres Leches with Guava Glaze. They were a hit!
