International Restaurant Show

As part of the Culinary Management tuition, we get paid admission to several of the larger food-related trade shows in the area, including the International Restaurant and Foodservice Show of NY, which is being held today through Tuesday at the convention center here. One of my friends from school was able to get a free pass for Todd, so he went along with me. In addition to the many, many food samples we tried throughout the day, there were salespeople and booths set up for everything from chef shoes to ice makers to a fancy machine that stuffs things inside of other things (with no visible holes)! Check it all out at www.internationalrestaurantny.com. The first picture is of some chocolates from a Lebanese chocolate manufacturer called Verdun, the second is of a self-cleaning/sanitizing toilet (!), the third is of one of the Pastry Competition finalists and the last is of a dessert display case that I really liked. We spent all day there and just got home to watch the UNC vs. DOOK game. I'm also going to practice making some more chocolate souffles - it's the recipe we get tested on in our practical exam next week, so I want to be GOOD at it!
