Woof!
Well, the dogs have officially been here in New York with us for a full day. They behaved themselves very nicely in the car on the way up here, even though I knew they were probably very bored. We did lose more than a few winks of sleep last night, as they are really not used to hearing noises outside of the apartment. They were playing "guard dogs" and barking at every little squeak outside of the door. They did more of the same today while Todd worked here out of the office. We VERY QUICKLY investigated some anti-bark solutions online and placed an order this afternoon for a fancy thingy that you can plug in and it emits an ultrasonic noise that deters barking. We'll see how it works. Right now, I don't think either of us want to jeopardize our budding relationship with our neighbors or this building enough to leave them here by themselves. There are lots of other dogs in the building, so it's probably something people tolerate as long as it doesn't get out of control. Hopefully tonight is more restful. On the off chance that they understand any English (other than "sit, stay, walk, treat or bad dog"), I told them that they'd better be good or else we are going to have to ship them back to NC! I also spent some time exploring Rockafeller Center and the shops on 5th Avenue (no purchases!) and we just took a long walk around Roosevelt Island. Tomorrow, I'll stop by school to say "Hello" and probably ride my bike into Queens to see what there is to see.

We're so happy for you guys! The apartment looks great, and I'm sure you two will make the most of the experience... We'll have to find a good excuse to order some yummy cakes from you when we move back to the States! Can't wait... love, TOH
Those doggies are country doggies. They don't like noise and city life. They say New York City is a scary place for pups that are from the South. HE HE HE HE HE HE HE!! (smiling)
