And then there were 2...

It's Saturday and I'm writing to say that the next leg of our adventure is a disappointing one. I'm afraid that the dogs just aren't going to make it here in the big city. They are very protective of their space and their owners, so they bark a lot at noises in the building. We've been here almost a week with them, and still have not been able to leave them alone in the apartment. Rachael also is so full of energy that she's about to go nuts, not to mention the edge of insanity that we are both sitting on being cooped up in the apartment when all of New York is waiting!! We thought it would be enough to find a place that would ALLOW us have the dogs. Well, they are allowed to be here, but we just don't think it's the best place for them. They really need more exercise than we can even provide for them on 2-3 long walks per day. So......we've decided to enlist the help of an online pet/house sitting matching service that matches people who need a house/pet sitter with people across the US and world who need a free place to live! It seems to be a win-win-win situation, the dogs get to be in their own home/yard, we get to live in New York without having to feel guilty about leaving the dogs in the apartment, and the housesitter gets a place to live rent free as long as they stick with the agreement! We think we've found someone who will be a perfect match and we're working out the details, so Todd and I are bringing the dogs BACK TO Durham tomorrow and will hopefully have petsitter extraordinaire at American Drive later this month. She is a PhD student writing her dissertation and she loves dogs and seems to be very responsible and trustworthy. I sure can't wait to start writing in this blog about all of the fun we are having!!! but for now, I'm just writing the facts... Please send some patience vibes our way...we almost need to be super-human to get in the car and make this drive again (4th time in 10 days)!!

Oh boy... so I guess the internet gadget that you ordered for the dogs didn't work!??? Well, it sounds like you found a good match for someone to take care of "your girls" and it all makes for some good stories! :) Hope you had safe and uneventful travels! Talk to you soon! Megan
